But Lukaku has told agent Mino Raiola his preference is to head back to Chelsea, the club he left for £28million in 2014.
‘Staying at Everton is no longer an option for next season. I remain calm,’ Lukaku, 24, said. ‘There is nothing concrete with a club at the moment, my agent is busy discussing.

‘I’m not going to make big declarations about my future, but I know where I want to play: in a club that is fighting the Champions League and can win titles in England.
‘We are now in talks with the club and I am looking forward. ‘My agent knows what is going to happen and I know as well.’ Work is still to be done before Lukaku is granted his wish.

A stumbling block is Everton’s £100m price tag, which would be a world record fee. Agreeing personal terms, though, will be a formality.
‘I’m staying calm and we have an agreement with the club as well,’ he added. ‘I’m just going to rest for a few days and then just prepare for next season.
‘I want to put the time in on my holiday to take everything to another level and be better than I was last year. We stay calm and at least we have a direction where we want to go.’
